My name is Tapan Kumar Sahoo. Born and raised in Balasore, Odisha, my life has been molded and nurtured by my loving parents, Chakradhra Sahoo and Annapurna Sahoo. They taught me the importance of hard work, honesty, and compassion, values that have been my compass throughout my journey.
I am fortunate to have a close-knit family. Alongside my brother, Apurba Sahoo, I grew up sharing both challenges and dreams. The comfort of family has always been my anchor, especially as I built my own. My spouse, Diptimayee Acharya, is my partner in every sense—her wisdom and support weigh equal to my ambitions. Together, we cherish our greatest treasure: our daughter, Divyanshi Sahoo, whose laughter fills our home with joy and hope.
Educational Voyage
I embarked on my academic journey at Upendra Prasad Upper Primary School in Balasore. The small school taught me the first letters and lessons of life, surrounded by the warmth of childhood friends and kind teachers. My curiosity soon led me to M.E. School in Ohada. Each year brought new experiences and opportunities to shape my understanding of the world beyond textbooks.
High School at Fatehpur marked a turning point. It was there that I discovered my leadership qualities—participating in debates, social causes, and volunteering in village activities. My thirst for knowledge guided me to Fakir Mohan College, and later Fakir Mohan University, where I completed my graduation. College exposed me to a larger world—new cultures, diverse opinions, and, more importantly, emerging challenges that society faces.
A Calling for Service and Social Work
While academics laid the foundation, my heart craved more than personal achievement. I felt a genuine calling to serve my community and leave a mark through positive change. My passion for travel revealed to me the beauty and struggles of Odisha, urging me to act wherever I could.
Social work became my true vocation. My association with various initiatives—tree plantation drives, disaster management campaigns, and yoga promotion—defined my purpose. Recognition came in the form of awards, but my reward was always the smiles of those helped and the green canopy thriving under our collective efforts.
Being honored by Odisha Government for my work in disaster management was a proud moment for me. It strengthened my resolve to keep working for those in need, especially during challenging times. The SABUJA SATHI NGO acknowledged my contributions to environmental awareness through the tree plantation award. Yoga, as a practice, helped me personally and professionally, culminating in receiving a Yoga award for promoting this holistic lifestyle.
A Life of Travel and Discovery
Travel is my passion. Every journey, every new place, unfolds lessons just as valuable as those from books or classrooms. Odisha’s landscapes—from the tranquil beaches of Balasore to the lush forests and vibrant villages—captivate me and inspire my work in conservation and community service. Through travel, I have understood that real education is continuous, happening inside and outside school walls.
Looking Forward
My life has been a tapestry—woven with threads of education, love, service, adventure, and growth. I strive each day to balance my roles as a son, husband, father, brother, and social worker. The road ahead remains long, with challenges and opportunities sprinkled generously. Yet, if my story teaches anything, it is that dedication and kindness shape not just individuals but communities.
I am grateful for all the awards, accolades, and recognition, but even more for the chance to make a difference. With my family and community by my side, I look forward to every journey ahead, continuing to learn, serve, and grow.
